Home of the Bulldogs!
The Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School Interscholastic Athletic Program addresses the physical, social, and emotional needs of early adolescence. The FMG Athletic Program provides our students with opportunities to participate in athletics, expanded in recognition of the physical, mental and social changes that they will experience. While competition is a key component to the middle school athletic experience, it is not the only attribute. The FMG Athletic Program is performance based. It is a competitive interscholastic program where placement on the active roster and playing time for games is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the coach.
Currently, Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School offers Soccer for boys and girls in the Fall, Basketball for boys and girls in the Winter, and Baseball for boys and Softball for girls in the Spring for sixth, seventh and eighth grade students.

Winter Sports Registration:
Genesis Registration Steps
- Log into the parent portal of Genesis. If your student is a County Vocational School student, please reach out to Anthony Salerno (asalerno@springfieldschools) in order to set up your Genesis Parent Portal.
- Go to the Forms tab and access the Winter Sports Registration Form
- Select the sport your student is participating in and fill out the necessary fields.
- Once all the fields are completed, please hit submit or update.
- After submitting the Genesis form, which includes the DOE Health History Form and physical form, please click here to see the instructions on how to complete the ImPact Test.
- Once you have submitted all the necessary forms, your student’s physical will be sent out to be approved by our school doctor. This process can take up to two weeks for a student to gain clearance. If you are looking to check the status of your student’s registration, please email the coach of that sport and our Athletic Trainer, Ms. Brianne Triano (btriano@springfieldschools.com).
Physical is good for 365 days - if your physical is dated prior to the start of the season it is good for the entire season (as per the NJSIAA/DOE). Please note, the Department of Education has recently changed the preparticipation physical forms. This memo explains the new process for submitting paperwork. Old forms will no longer be accepted.

Impact Testing - Must be done Prior to participation. Baseline testing is valid for 2 years. All incoming freshmen athletes must complete an ImPACT test regardless of if they recently completed one for the FMG spring sports season.
All information regarding the eligibility process can be found on our FMG Athletic website at https://www.springfieldschools.com/2/Content2/356 .
Please keep in mind that the FMG Athletic program is performance-based. It is a competitive interscholastic program where placement on the active roster and playing time for games is not guaranteed and is at the coach's discretion. The active rosters for boys and girls soccer will be approximately 18 players.
Please be aware that interest in FMG athletics is very high, so many students will try out for these teams. Due to this, we recommend that parents do not wait to sign up their children for different soccer leagues to see if their child makes the FMG Soccer team. Additionally, students, who earn a roster spot on the FMG Soccer team, must attend practices and games for other teams or leagues.
