Dear Parent / Guardian:
Please be advised that the practice of birthday parties during student lunch periods is against school policy. There are a number of reasons for the implementation of such a policy. First, due to allergy and dietary issues, students should not be sharing food. Secondly and most importantly, the practice of birthday parties adds to the anxiety of the middle school child and their feeling the need to “fit in”. Students who do not have birthday parties have expressed a negative feeling toward this practice.
If food arrives for your child, it will be stored in one of the school refrigerators to be picked up at the end of the school day.
